Our Team
Philip Shull, President
Deneuve’s inquisitive founder has been interested in the way buildings are designed and subsequently assembled since his formative years. After a degree in Psychology at CU, he began building restaurants for the ‘founders’ of the Boulder scene back in the 70′s and quickly, Deneuve Construction was born. With his keen eye for building details, he has developed a reputation of quality construction and design in Boulder and within the 14 states that Deneuve has worked. Phil’s esteemed reputation is not only as a general contractor, but also as a Civic Leader with his endless hours of pro bono participation over the years through the City Planning board, Central Area Improvement District, Boulder Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Management Commission and the Boulder Urban Renewal Authority, and currently on the Chautauqua board, just to name a few. Deneuve has thrived under his direction and vision, and he continues to lead the company through the ever evolving maze that is the construction industry.
William Bohner, General Manager
Will is one of the original “Deneuvians” and has been with Deneuve for most of the 40 years in business. He is steady as you go, and the one who gets to put all the “fires” out for the company. With a BA in English Literature and years of construction management and estimating, he can definitely communicate effectively on detailed pricing and technical construction issues, especially when it comes to discrepancies on the job. Quality control and attention to the detail of the finished product is an area where Will takes pride and where years of experience pay off. As an avid yoga practitioner, he stays fit, healthy, and centered for all the stresses of his job.
David Garabed, Manager of Business Development and Preconstruction
David came to Deneuve in 2004 with extensive experience in preconstruction, estimating, development management, and design-build. He has a BS in Architectural Engineering and an MBA from the University of Colorado. He has been involved in a wide range of construction projects including library, office, live/work, retail, medical, mixed-use, multifamily, affordable housing, museum, education, light industrial, restaurant, recreation, theater, and historic renovation. When he isn’t crunching numbers, he skis, bikes, fishes, plays hockey, and works on home improvement projects, which always come in over budget and behind schedule.
Andy Black, Estimator
Andy Black graduated from the University of Colorado with a BS in Architectural Engineering. Since joining Deneuve, he has worked as an Estimator and in preconstruction on various design-build projects. Originally from Illinois, he enjoys skiing and soccer as well as watching his favorite Chicago sports teams, particularly the Cubs. Additionally, he enjoys movies and reciting useless pop culture information.
Marcia Siemsen, Controller
Marcia runs the numbers side of Deneuve with a stern but steady hand and can scare anyone into doing the right thing. She deals with bankers, insurance agents, subcontractors, and clients and keeps everyone on the right track. She oversees and manages job budgets and billings with such an acute eye that accuracy is the norm.
Dina Hotovec, Project Coordinator & Accounts Payable
The consummate ‘Girl Friday’ that has done it all, Dina takes care of business. A stay at home mom to her two daughters for years, when forced to return to work, she chose the temp agency route for flexibility and autonomy, and luckily for Deneuve, she landed in our office and is here to stay. Over the years as a temp, she has acquired a vastly varied set of skills and experience and has proven to be an asset to our company. She is the most reliable, competent, and trustworthy person around. If you need anything researched, found, or calculated, she is more than willing to help in any way possible.
Christine Kimura, Project Coordinator
Christine worked in the non-profit educational world for many years heading the accounting department. She also had a psychotherapy practice for 10 years, treating young adults while managing the BookEnd Cafe for over a decade. She holds a bachelor degree in Health Sciences from the California State University, Fresno and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Lesley College. She loves organization and would love to have Deneuve totally organized.
Eddie Atkinson, Warehouse Manager
Born in Massachusetts, but grew up in Colorado since a babe, Eddie is a local at heart. He has never been back to Boston, but would someday like to visit. He takes care of Deneuve’s warehouses, equipment, and furniture and is always willing to help out in any way. He is easy to please and is happy just to be in Colorado!
Project Manager, Henry Freedman
Henry came to Deneuve with 30 some years of construction experience and has been a wonderful asset for Deneuve. He holds a BS degree from the University of Illinois, but is an expert at BS in general, with his sharp wit and unrestrained humor. He is an extraordinary project manager, being very well organized and accurate and runs many of our large multi-family projects. He has a wide range of interests including dogs, cars, music, and antiques.
Project Manager, Eric Serfoss
Eric came to Deneuve in 2007 after managing commercial construction projects in Boulder since 2000. He graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design from the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado. He has worked on a variety of ground up, tenant improvement and remodel projects, including office, retail, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, live/work multifamily, recreation, restaurant, grocery store and university projects. Eric is a Colorado native, and is an avid rock climber, trail runner and skier.
Superintendent, Mark Johns
Mark has been in construction for over 30 years and has a wide variety of experience working on projects from an Aerospace facility, Elder housing, medical centers, and recreational and institutional facilities. He is a Boulder local and has studied at the CU College of Engineering and CSU in Construction Management. He is such a nice guy that he volunteers at Food Share and with the Eldora Mountain Ski Patrol.
Project Manager, Keith Hobgood
Keith has been in the construction industry for 30 years. The last 4+ years have been at Deneuve as a project manager and superintendent. He has a BA from the University of Colorado and will receive his MAED/TED-S from the University of Phoenix summer 2012. His projects include historic renovation, tenant finish, restaurants, grocery stores, multi-family, and new residential construction. Keith feels that construction and renovation positively contribute to the community and enjoys seeing past projects in use. Alfalfa’s embodies all that I enjoy about construction: a historic building, local ownership, and a challenging project with a beautiful, functional result. Keith and his family live in Longmont, Colorado and enjoy all this great state has to offer including whitewater, hiking, and the outdoor lifestyle.
Site Superintendent, Chris Gardner
Chris has 28 years of construction experience in a variety of capacities, and has proven to be very capable and competent. As a site superintendent, he is like a conductor, responsible for ensuring that the many complicated day to day activities at the job are not only done at the specific time, but done correctly and that all work progresses smoothly. He has worked successfully on many complex multi-family residential developments and is experienced with LEED, HERS, and Enterprise Green Communities. In his spare time, Chris enjoys water skiing, golfing and spending time with his family. He is also usually remodeling something or other at his home, as most of those in construction.
Site Superintendent, Pablo Saucedo
Pablo came to Deneuve in 1994 with some college education in Engineering, and an associate degree in Internal Combustion Engines. He started as a laborer, and worked hard and showed such an interest and enthusiasm about construction, the Superintendents trained him to be a Carpenter, after which, he quickly learned about all the trades and was soon running small jobs and a Superintendent himself. Currently, he is one of Deneuve’s most reliable and competent superintendents.
He has been involved in residential and commercial projects including grocery stores, luxury town homes, apartment buildings, banks, restaurants, recreation, retail, historic renovation and automotive shops. When he isn’t supervising for Deneuve, he works on home projects, helps friends with their endless small home projects (that his wife so generously volunteers him for) and attends his two son’s soccer games.
