Our Team

Philip Shull, President

Deneuve’s inquisitive founder has been interested in the way buildings are designed and subsequently assembled since his formative years. After a degree in Psychology at CU, he began building restaurants for the ‘founders’ of the Boulder scene back in the 70’s and quickly, Deneuve Construction was born. With his keen eye for building details, he has developed a reputation of quality construction and design in Boulder and within the 14 states that Deneuve has worked. Phil’s esteemed reputation is not only as a general contractor, but also as a Civic Leader with his endless hours of pro bono participation over the years through the City Planning board, Central Area Improvement District, Boulder Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Management Commission and the Boulder Urban Renewal Authority, and currently on the Chautauqua board, just to name a few. Deneuve has thrived under his direction and vision, and he continues to lead the company through the ever evolving maze that is the construction industry.

David Garabed, Vice President

David came to Deneuve in 2004 with extensive experience in preconstruction, estimating, development management, and design-build. He has a BS in Architectural Engineering and an MBA from the University of Colorado. He has been involved in a wide range of construction projects including library, office, live/work, retail, medical, mixed-use, multifamily, affordable housing, museum, education, light industrial, restaurant, recreation, theater, and historic renovation. When he isn’t crunching numbers, he skis, bikes, fishes, plays hockey, and works on home improvement projects, which always come in over budget and behind schedule.

Steve Davis, Controller

Hailing from the Hudson Valley in New York, Steve received his BS in Finance and Accounting from Fairfield University in Connecticut. After moving around the country, he landed in Denver where he continued his accounting career in a CPA firm specializing in construction. He has served the construction industry in Colorado for over three decades as Controller, HR Director, and Chief Financial Officer. When not working, Steve and his wife enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, and exploring Colorado for all it has to offer.

William Bohner, Senior Project Manager

Will is one of the original “Deneuvians” having been with the company almost since it was established, nearly 47 years ago. He is steady as you go, and was often the one who put all the “fires” out for the company. With a BA in English Literature and years of construction management and estimating, he can definitely communicate effectively on detailed pricing and technical construction issues, especially when it comes to discrepancies on the job. Quality control and attention to the detail of the finished product is an area where Will takes pride and where years of experience pay off. As an avid yoga practitioner, he stays fit, healthy, and centered for all the stresses of his job.

Chris Kervan, Estimator

Originally from Virginia, Chris graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Structural Engineering and has since worked with both construction and design companies. He now uses his diverse work experiences to be an effective estimator. The draw of the Rockies brought him to Boulder, and he is excited to see buildings go up around town as a result of his efforts. Outside of work, Chris will most likely be found enjoying an outdoor adventure in the mountains with his wife and friends, or in the garage tinkering on a new woodworking project.

Marty Johnson, Estimator

A Pennsylvania native, Marty’s fascination with construction came at an early age, and most recently has been very diverse. After graduating with a BS in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2012, he spent a couple of years working with heavy civil and residential contractors, along with performing small remodels and handyman projects on the side. After spending a summer working maintenance on a ranch in Durango, Colorado, he was lucky to find a home with Deneuve as an Estimator. With an engineering background and construction experience, he is focused on Deneuve’s promise to excellence and client satisfaction. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys snowboarding, hiking, biking and camping. He is most talented at spending money on tools and procrastinating on personal repair projects.

Dina Hotovec, Project Coordinator & Accounts Payable

The consummate ‘Girl Friday’ that has done it all, Dina takes care of business.  A stay at home mom to her two daughters for years, when forced to return to work, she chose the temp agency route for flexibility and autonomy, and luckily for Deneuve, she landed in our office and is here to stay.  Over the years as a temp, she has acquired a vastly varied set of skills and experience and has proven to be an asset to our company.  She is the most reliable, competent, and trustworthy person around.  If you need anything researched, found, or calculated, she is more than willing to help in any way possible.

Christine Kimura, Project Coordinator

Christine worked in the non-profit world of higher education for many years heading up the Accounting department. She also had an established psychotherapy practice for well over a decade, treating young adults, while simultaneously managing the BookEnd Café. Still hands-on, the BookEnd Café evolved into Riffs Urban Fare, one of the most popular local restaurants on the Boulder Mall. She holds a Bachelors degree in Health Sciences from the California State University, Fresno, and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Lesley College. She flourishes in a well organized work place, which in turn highly benefits the functionality of the entire Deneuve office staff.

Deborah Fahr, Accounting/Administrative Assistant

Deborah has lived in Colorado for a “lifetime”, although her roots were birthed on the East coast. After graduating from the University of Colorado, Boulder, she was still so smitten with the uniqueness of this college mountain town, that it was officially claimed as home. For a few decades to follow, she became entrenched in the Printing/Marketing Industry, quite by happenstance. Heartily welcomed to Deneuve as accounting/administrative support staff, Deborah is enjoying the opportunity to help keep internal office projects flowing smoothly. In real life, Deborah appreciates the big three – family, friends and church. She does yearn on occasion for times happily spent on a sunny beach (pretty much anywhere) and “Jeeping”.

Pablo Saucedo Jr., Office Engineer

Pablo has been busy working since he was 17 years old. He worked for 9 years doing drafting for a glass company, and whenever he could, worked for Deneuve as a laborer. His experience with floor plans and CNC programming along with his natural abilities and intellect gave him the background for his current job as an Office Engineer. He is married with a daughter and enjoys his immediate family, but also his very close extended family who are all located here in Colorado.

Chris Morgan, Project Engineer

Originally from Virginia, Chris moved to Colorado after graduating from East Carolina University. He received a BS in Design with a double concentration in Architectural & Mechanical Technology, as well as a Business minor from the College of Engineering and Technology. He has been involved in a number of projects in the manufacturing sector and would like to turn his focus to the construction industry. Chris enjoys working out, sporting events, concerts, and most outdoor activities.

Alex Fleming, Project Engineer

Uprooted from Dallas, Texas, Alex relocated to Denver with his wife Hannah and their son, Cooper, in 2016. He earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering, graduating from Oklahoma State University in 2008. After working in the oil and gas industry primarily in manufacturing and design, Alex accepted a full time position with Denenve as a Project Engineer. His focus and exposure to all the facets and phases of the construction industry has been an excellent and mutually educational career transition. When not on-site, Alex enjoys spending his free time with his family, taking advantage of the temperate Colorado climate and healthy lifestyle with a multitude of outdoor activities, including biking, hiking, snowboarding and off road trail driving.

Jonathan Ernster, Project Engineer

Jon is an actual Colorado native. Sticking close to his roots, he graduated from CU Boulder earning a BS degree in Civil Engineering, with heavy concentration on Construction Management. His work experience has focused on remediation, heavy civil, design projects and philanthropy work. As a well organized, enthusiastic Project Engineer with Deneuve, he has set his sights on eventually transitioning into a Project Manager position. Currently a Denver city dweller, Jon fills his free time reading, enjoying outdoor sports, and traveling abroad. When he’s not working, or adventuring, he’s practicing yoga, taking dance lessons ( much to his girlfriend’s joy ) and learning Spanish. Not much down time, really. He’s always striving to learn something new!

Gabriele Erspamer, Project Engineer

Gabri was born, and raised through the age of 6, in Rovereto, Italy, at which point his family relocated to Steamboat Springs. Culture shock. His later, college years led him to Fort Collins where he studied at Colorado State University, graduating with a BS degree in Construction Management. Summer seasonal work was spent mostly hands-on as a site laborer focusing on framing and concrete work. This served as a realistic and practical application from his classroom education to the impact of the field. In his down time he enjoys skiing, playing soccer, basketball, volleyball and tennis. (If you ever want to talk basketball, he’s your guy!) He can’t resist a good road trip accompanied of course by plenty of camping and hiking. Not to mention traveling abroad, bringing him back, or at least closer to, his place of origin. We welcome Gabri to our growing Team at Deneuve.

Wesley Strickland, Project Engineer

Wesley and his wife, Logan, moved to Colorado from their home in Alabama shortly after their marriage in May of 2018. Wesley attended the University of Alabama where he graduated with his BS in Construction Engineering. After working in Civil Design for a short time, he was quickly drawn to the pursuit of a career in the more active, hands-on, construction industry. He is eager to contribute to Deneuve’s growth and success in his role as Project Engineer. He is looking forward to working with a diverse group of people, contractors, and projects in the beautiful State of Colorado! Off the job, Wesley and Logan enjoy attending the Rockies games (as avid baseball fans!), fly-fishing, skiing and taking advantage of all the outdoor recreation that the Front Range has to offer.

He owned and operated a residential construction company for fourteen years prior to attending the University of Colorado – College of Engineering. He joined Deneuve as a Site Superintendent in 2015 while still taking classes at CU, and helped lead multiple projects to completion. While attending CU, Ray won several design and construction competitions including the prestigious Design Build Institute of America’s (DBIA) National Competition. When not on the job, Ray can be found spending time with his wife and son, enjoying hiking, backpacking, skiing, snowboarding and catching music all along the Front Range.

Project Manager, Mike Ailor

Mike joined Deneuve in December 2016 with 9 years hands-on experience, managing over $1 billion in completed projects. The challenge of learning how to build world-class structures intrigued Mike at a young age. He started working for a carpenter in high school, enrolling in any available classes that offered more insight into the construction industry. Through college he worked as: a rough/finish and concrete carpenter and finisher, plumber, roofer and landscaper to gain both skill and knowledge in these various and diverse trades. After graduating from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a BS in Construction Management his career catapulted from there. His desire to “Make it Real” has not subsided, and he is eager to offer and encourage fresh ideas that blend in with the ingredients that have made Deneuve a success over the last 46 years. Away from the office Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, son and two dogs. Home improvement projects, woodworking, road trips, camping, hiking, fishing, archery, riding motorcycles (and occasionally fixing them), golfing and intermittent workouts are some of the hobbies that keep his battery charged.

Project Manager, Matt Disney

Matt was a fortunate Deneuve win, joining the growing force of Project Management, and contributing to the expansion of our talents and territories. Another, still rare, Colorado native, Matt graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, in Construction Management. He has focused on the Colorado commercial construction industry since early 2002 and presents a diverse and accomplished portfolio including: Medical Office Complexes, Fire Stations, Charter Schools, Breweries and unique Office Facilities, all up and down the Front Range. He excels in integrated delivery methods, and is familiar with aligning team priorities resulting in the creation of exceptional, successful, projects. Striving to keep life in a healthy balance, Matt is a member of a local lacrosse team that has competed internationally in Belgium, Amsterdam, London and Hawaii. He has also recently taken up learning the banjo! A dedicated family man, Matt and his wife live in an established mountain community above North Boulder. Typical for true Coloradans, they spend as much time as possible in the outdoors, raising (chasing) their 3 year old and elderly dog!

Project Manager, Jonathan Hay

Originally from Lakewood Colorado, Jonathan graduated from Ft. Lewis College in Durango with a BA in Business Administration. His relocation efforts took the mountain route, including the high peaks of Telluride, circling back around to settle in Lakewood once again. True to his roots. Throughout his nearly 30 years in the construction industry he has overseen a diverse range of ground up projects which have included: residential, high end custom luxury homes, mixed-use, multi-family housing, hotels, restaurants, retail and unique remodeling work. Noting just a few of Jonathan’s hobbies: hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle throughout the Front Range rank high on his list. He has been involved in residential and commercial projects including grocery stores, luxury town homes, apartment buildings, banks, restaurants, recreation, retail, historic renovation and automotive shops.
