Our Team

David Garabed, President

David came to Deneuve in 2004, having previously worked for another leading Colorado General Contractor. He has a BS degree in Architectural Engineering and an MBA from the University of Colorado. He has been involved in a wide range of construction projects including library, office, live/work, retail, medical, mixed-use, multifamily, affordable housing, museum, education, light industrial, restaurant, recreation, theatre, and historic renovation. At Deneuve, he has advanced through the ranks from Preconstruction Manager, to Vice President, to his current role of President and Owner. As President, David is accountable for all Deneuve operations and strives to make sure that Deneuve delivers the exceptional performance that underpins our reputation. When he isn’t working, he skis, bikes, fishes, plays hockey, and works on home improvement projects, which always come in over budget and behind schedule.

Philip Shull, Founder Emeritus

Deneuve’s inquisitive founder has been interested in the way buildings are designed and subsequently assembled since his formative years. After a degree in Psychology at CU, he began building restaurants for the ‘founders’ of the Boulder scene back in the 70’s and quickly, Deneuve Construction was born. With his keen eye for building details, he has developed a reputation of quality construction and design in Boulder and within the 14 states that Deneuve has worked. Phil’s esteemed reputation is not only as a general contractor, but also as a Civic Leader with his endless hours of pro bono participation over the years through the City Planning board, Central Area Improvement District, Boulder Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Management Commission, the Boulder Urban Renewal Authority, and the Chautauqua Board, just to name a few. Deneuve thrived under his direction and vision, and in his new role as Executive Advisor he continues to support the company through the ever evolving maze that is the construction industry.

Matt Disney, Operations Manager

Matt was a fortunate Deneuve win, leading our growing force through Operations Management, and contributing to the expansion of our talents and territories. Another, still rare, Colorado native, Matt graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, in Construction Management. He has focused on the Colorado commercial construction industry since early 2002 and presents a diverse and accomplished portfolio including: Medical Office Complexes, Fire Stations, Charter Schools, Breweries and unique Office Facilities, all up and down the Front Range. He excels in integrated delivery methods, and is familiar with aligning team priorities resulting in the creation of exceptional, successful, projects. Striving to keep life in a healthy balance, Matt is a member of a local lacrosse team that has competed internationally in Belgium, Amsterdam, London and Hawaii. He has also recently taken up learning the banjo!

Melissa Dorr, Controller

Melissa joins Deneuve with a diverse background in the construction industry. She earned her BS degree in Business Administration and has an MBA in Accounting. Melissa began her career with a subcontractor in her hometown, and has grown in the accounting field, to become a Controller in the building and development of both commercial and residential projects. Melissa relocated from Southern California, and while she misses the beach, is learning to appreciate life in the mountains. Following her family, Melissa has two brothers who graduated from CU Boulder, so while she is relatively new as a resident, she has spent a lot of time in Colorado. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with family, being social with friends, and exploring local events.

Marty Johnson, Lead Estimator

A Pennsylvania native, Marty’s fascination with construction came at an early age, and most recently has been very diverse. After graduating with a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2012, he spent a couple of years working with heavy civil and residential contractors, along with performing small remodels and handyman projects on the side. After spending a summer working maintenance on a ranch in Durango, Colorado, he was lucky to find a home with Deneuve as an Estimator. With an engineering background and construction experience, he is focused on Deneuve’s promise to excellence and client satisfaction. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys snowboarding, hiking, biking and camping. He is most talented at spending money on tools and procrastinating on personal repair projects.

Chris Kervan, Estimator

Originally from Virginia, Chris graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Structural Engineering and has since worked with both construction and design companies. He now uses his diverse work experiences to be an effective estimator. The draw of the Rockies brought him to Boulder, and he is excited to see buildings go up around town as a result of his efforts. Outside of work, Chris will most likely be found enjoying an outdoor adventure in the mountains with his wife and friends, or in the garage tinkering on a new woodworking project.

Dina Hotovec, Project Accountant

The consummate ‘Girl Friday’ that has done it all, Dina takes care of business.  A stay at home mom to her two daughters for years, when forced to return to work, she chose the temp agency route for flexibility and autonomy, and luckily for Deneuve, she landed in our office and is here to stay.  Over the years as a temp, she has acquired a vastly varied set of skills and experience and has proven to be an asset to our company.  She is the most reliable, competent, and trustworthy person around.  If you need anything researched, found, or calculated, she is more than willing to help in any way possible.

Shelly Sucato, Project Accountant

A rare find, Shelly has joined our Deneuve Team, supporting our Accounting staff and overall company culture, bringing an immediate and effectual upgrade. This growing and continually changing industry is familiar footing to her, as she has thrived in the Construction work world for over 25 years. She has fearlessly stepped right in here at Deneuve, impacting processes and efficiency wherever the daily needs demand. We are grateful for the experience and calm flexibility that Shelly lends to the commotion of a successful workplace environment. Yes, a Colorado native, Shelly is all about family! Her real life is as vital as her professional one. All local, they spend weekend time with kids, in-laws and an almost brand-new grand baby. Throw in her competitive volleyball team and some decent golf course time, and you’ll see a very well-balanced lifestyle!

Deborah Fahr, Accounting/Administrative Assistant

Deborah has lived in Colorado for a lifetime, although her roots were birthed on the East coast. After graduating from the University of Colorado, Boulder, she was still so smitten with the uniqueness of this college mountain town, that it was officially claimed as home. For a few decades to follow, she became entrenched in the Printing/Marketing Industry, quite by happenstance. Heartily welcomed to Deneuve as accounting/administrative support staff, Deborah is enjoying the opportunity to help keep internal office projects flowing smoothly. In real life, Deborah appreciates the big three – family, friends and church. She does yearn on occasion for times happily spent on a sunny beach (pretty much anywhere) and “Jeeping”.

Project Manager, Erik Brandon

Erik came to Deneuve with 23 years of commercial construction experience and has significant skills supported by US Green Building Council Leadership in Energy Efficient Design Accredited Professional designation; ABC Excellence Award (Associated Builders and Contractors); and a nomination for Superintendent of the year from the American Subcontractors Association.  He has been building projects in the Denver metro area for the last 19 years and lives in the mountains with his three daughters.  In his spare moments, he spends time outdoors teaching his girls, fishing or hunting, or at home cooking up great meals.

Project Manager, Lucas Scherer

Lucas has a BS degree in Construction Management from Arizona State University, and is a LEED accredited professional.  He has performed work all across the West including Arizona, California, and Colorado.  Throughout his career, he has successfully completed a variety of projects ranging from medical/ surgical centers, office, sports facilities, multi-family, government (GSA), memory care, retail, and industrial. While these projects were primarily design/ build, he has experience leading teams in a variety of delivery methods and contract structures. Maintaining a balance with his work schedule is usually done by spending time outdoors, snowboarding, running, surfing, and traveling abroad.

Project Manager, K C Hagemann

K C has enjoyed managing a diverse range of projects types throughout Colorado over the past 10 years; from Laboratories, Hospitals, Higher-Education Campus’ and Parking Structures to Senior Living Facilities. He brings to Deneuve a wide range of hands on experience and is always ready to tackle any project, regardless of the hidden challenges yet to be revealed. K C graduated with a Degree in Construction Engineering Technology from Montana State University and has also earned a Certification of Associate DBIA from the Design Build Institute of America. He and his wife Maggie enjoy all that the Colorado seasonal outdoors have to offer, including hiking, camping and hunting. They are true sports fans as well, tailgating in spirited support of the Broncos! They also schedule as many live concerts as they can fit in. Well rounded leisure time is key.

Assistant Project Manager, Trip LeCorgne

A Louisiana native, oddly with no identifiable accent, Trip was born and raised in New Orleans graduating from LSU (GO TIGERS!) with a degree in Construction Management. Upon graduation he quickly secured a position with a General Contractor in his hometown. With a distracting passion for hiking and a love for the mountains, he knew that Colorado would be the ideal location for him to pursue that desired lifestyle as well as continue his career in the construction industry. Trip found his way to Deneuve in the summer of 2019 as an Assistant Project Manager, and looks forward to making his unique contribution in support, as Deneuve earns their continued success. In his spare time Trip enjoys staying active with his dog, Dakota, and exploring everything Colorado has to offer from city life to the rugged mountains.

Assistant Project Manager, Wesley Strickland

Wesley and his wife, Logan, moved to Colorado from their home in Alabama shortly after their marriage in May of 2018. Wesley attended the University of Alabama where he graduated with his BS degree in Construction Engineering. After working in Civil Design for a short time, he was quickly drawn to the pursuit of a career in the more active, hands-on, construction industry. He is eager to contribute to Deneuve’s growth and success in his role as Project Engineer. He is looking forward to working with a diverse group of people, contractors, and projects in the beautiful State of Colorado! Off the job, Wesley and Logan enjoy attending the Rockies games (as avid baseball fans!), fly-fishing, skiing and taking advantage of all the outdoor recreation that the Front Range has to offer.

Assistant Project Manager, Devin Castor

Devin is another Colorado native! He graduated from the self-proclaimed “Harvard of the Rockies” (CU Boulder) earning a BS degree in Economics, with an emphasis in Business. Despite his choice in degree, Devin’s passion has always been construction, finding himself drawn to the tangible aspect of the industry.  Devin came from another respected Colorado contractor, where he spent 7 years in the field building everything from luxury apartments to memory care facilities. The combination of field experience and analytical education provides him with a unique perspective of construction project management. When not at work, you will Devin anywhere but indoors as he enjoys spending as much time as possible mountain biking, hunting and camping.

Site Superintendent, Pablo Saucedo

Pablo came to Deneuve in 1994 with some college education in Engineering, and an associate degree in Internal Combustion Engines. He started as a laborer, and worked hard and showed such an interest and enthusiasm about construction, the Superintendents trained him to be a Carpenter, after which, he quickly learned about all the trades and was soon running small jobs and a Superintendent himself. Currently, he is one of Deneuve’s most reliable and competent superintendents. He has been involved in residential and commercial projects including grocery stores, luxury town homes, apartment buildings, banks, restaurants, recreation, retail, historic renovation and automotive shops. When he isn’t supervising for Deneuve, he works on home projects, helps friends with their endless small home projects (that his wife so generously volunteers him for) and attends his two son’s soccer games.

Site Superintendent, Jay Pezoldt

Jay is one of those rare breeds lucky enough to claim being a Colorado Native, specifically from the mountainous Front Range. He attended Colorado State University and graduated with a degree in Natural Resource Management in 1997. He worked as a Wilderness Ranger for the Forest Service, building trails and bridges in the summertime and Ski Patrolling at Copper Mountain in the winters. He then turned his sights toward year round construction. He has worked as a trim carpenter, framer, and as a Field Superintendent where he developed his knowledge of the industry through construction management. Jay has been a Superintendent since 2006 and has managed projects for 14 story hotels, student housing, historical renovations, and many multifamily structures, from North Carolina and West Virginia, to Colorado. He resides in Boulder County with his wife and son.

Site Superintendent, Jim Deitchler

Jim is excited to join Deneuve’s growing team. With over 39 years experience as a job site superintendent, Jim has built projects in 7 states on sites as diverse as a 5 story building for Marquette University to a stream bridge, leading to the entrance of John Denver’s Ranch in Colorado. Jim enjoys bringing owner’s dreams to successful completion. His educational roots began at Oklahoma State University and CSU where he primarily studied Geology and project management. In his energetic youth, as an outdoors enthusiast, Jim was a backpacking instructor in Rocky Mountain National Park. He is an avid hiker of Colorado’s 14-ers, and enjoys snow skiing, river rafting, bicycling, camping and hanging out in fire lookouts. Music and movies are also his more relaxing pastimes.

Site Superintendent, Ben Hermsen

Ben is the definition of “hometown grown”. Born and raised in Boulder, Ben knew that the best place to pursue a degree in Engineering was the University of Colorado. After completing his degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ben started his own business, Benjamin Frederick; a licensed contractor that focused on custom carpentry and home renovation projects. His time as a Site Superintendent with a local commercial renovation contractor gave him the experience to step into his role with Deneuve as a valuable team member. When not working, Ben can be found on the disc golf course or adventuring with his lady, Jacquie, and their dog ,Bruce.

Site Superintendent, Kory Larson

Kory is yet another native of Colorado. Born and raised in Denver, he currently resides with his family in the suburbs of Fort Collins. Kory graduated from Colorado State University with double majors in Cultural Anthropology and History. He took a grand leap into the construction industry and has been residing there for the last 20+ years.  From his early days in the finishing trades to working in tandem with several local General Contractors, he has built his way up and down the entire Front Range. We are pleased that he settled here. His diverse site responsibilities through the years progressed from Foreman, to Project Manager and Site Superintendent. Being outdoors, coupled with plenty of commotion and schedule coordination, seems to keep Kory challenged as the perfect fit all around. He is an outstanding asset to our growing construction team and we are grateful to have found him. In his real life, outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 sons.

Site Superintendent, Skip Barton

Skip was born and raised in Colorado and has resided along the Front Range ever since. His career in construction started in 1994, as a framing contractor and he has been a Superintendent for over 12 years. In college, Skip studied construction management, architectural design, and computer aided drafting. The combination of years of field experience and continuing education have provided him with an insightful knowledge and understanding of construction standards and practices. He served as a Building Inspector for a local municipality for 4 years but ultimately his passion for building returned him to the field where he is able to produce a quality product and help clients “Make it Real”. In his spare time, Skip enjoys spending time with his four children and loves to get outdoors to go camping, fishing, and hunting.

Assistant Site Superintendent, Chris Morgan

Originally from Virginia, Chris moved to Colorado after graduating from East Carolina University. He received a BS degree in Design with a double concentration in Architectural & Mechanical Technology, as well as a Business minor from the College of Engineering and Technology. He has been involved in a number of projects in the manufacturing sector and would like to turn his focus to the construction industry. Chris enjoys working out, sporting events, concerts, and almost every outdoor activity.

Assistant Site Superintendent, Eric Rehnberg

Eric is a Native. Simply stated, he was born in Boulder, raised here and completed his education here. Something to boast about. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a double major – International Affairs and Environmental Studies. Prior to that aggressive educational endeavor, he worked in the construction industry during his summer breaks. His background was quite diverse, taking a brief hiatus to coach High School baseball. Returning to team up with a local general contractor, Eric quickly climbed the ranks and spent the previous 6 years working steadily as a commercial Site Superintendent, excelling in Education, Medical Office Facilities and Commercial TI projects. He settled in to what he enjoyed most and we are pleased to welcome Eric to Deneuve. Free time finds Eric, and his financé Amber fly fishing, or chasing big game in the high country. We are looking forward to their hosting a BBQ one of these days very soon.

Assistant Site Superintendent, Ryan Corbett

Ryan is another fortunate native of our colorful State of Colorado. He had the hands-on talent required for success in the construction industry starting at the very young, but yet capable age of 14. Taking a critical detour, and shortly after serving for 8 years in the Marine Corps, he returned to his career of choice. He stepped back into construction, working in the field as a Laborer with an excavation and utilities contractor, and as his skills progressed, was quickly promoted to the Project Foreman position. Ryan’s exposure to a multitude of different building types were vast, varying from residential home builds, to stadiums. His recent focus centered on infrastructure for new sub-division construction, with his area of expertise being in underground wet utilities. Nothing presents too great a challenge for Ryan, and Deneuve is pleased to welcome him to our growing field supervisory Team. True to his natural Colorado roots, Ryan prefers to spend his free time outdoors as well, fishing and hunting. It’s a major plus to his leisure time adventures, when his wife and daughter tag along!

Jonathan Ernster, Senior Project Engineer

Jon is an actual Colorado native. Sticking close to his roots, he graduated from CU Boulder earning a BS degree in Civil Engineering, with heavy concentration on Construction Management. His work experience has focused on remediation, heavy civil, design projects and philanthropy work. As a well organized, enthusiastic Project Engineer with Deneuve, he has set his sights on eventually transitioning into a Project Manager position. Previously a Denver city dweller, Jon has returned to Boulder, filling his free time reading, enjoying outdoor sports, and traveling abroad. When he’s not working, or adventuring, he’s practicing yoga, taking dance lessons ( much to his girlfriend’s joy ) and learning Spanish. Not much down time, really. He’s always striving to learn something new!

Connor McGee, Project Engineer

Another East Coast native, Connor’s origins are in the lush green state of Pennsylvania. He graduated with a degree, and his future wife, from Lafayette College. His roots in construction geared up with college summer employment working for a concrete contractor, pouring slabs. Hands on from the get-go. He willingly stepped into as many diverse positions as his project assignments would demand from Project Engineer/Assistant PM to Project Manager for H&M, onto customer builds for Zayo Communications, all the while focusing on a relocation to Colorado. Connor is pleased to be back on the GC side again, and has already had opportunity to grow and learn from the diversely experienced and talented staff at Deneuve. Personal time allows Connor to fine tune his photography skills in outdoor exploration of this beautiful state of ours, while hiking with his wife and dog, Ohana. In true consistent “industry” form, he is also in constant progress of fixing up his first ever home, one weekend project at a time.

Keenan O’Hearn, Project Engineer

Keenan is a Colorado native and Colorado State University graduate where he earned a BS degree in Construction Management with a Business Administration minor. He recently began his construction career with Deneuve and is looking forward to the many new experiences to come. Like most Colorado residents, Keenan is an avid skier and spends most his time searching for powder in Breckenridge and Vail. When he’s not in the mountains, he also enjoys hockey (Go Avs!) as well as the occasional poker night with his friends.

Bryce Moore, Project Engineer

Bryce is yet another favored Colorado native who went on to receive a BS degree in Construction Management from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He is a young-new hire looking forward to contributing to the successful completion of projects for Deneuve, and learning from the rest of the Deneuve Team. His experience has come from commercial tenant interior projects in the greater Denver area. When he’s not working, he’s hiking with friends, snowboarding in the mountains, or taking a much-needed nap. He attributes his passion for construction from his grandfather who was a well-respected home builder in Des Moines, Iowa.
