Shining Mountain Waldorf School

Bouldner, CO - Remodel and Addition of Kindergarten

Shining Mountain Waldorf School’s kindergarten was originally housed in a 1970’s portable building consisting of a 1,632 sq. ft. rectangle, divided in half for two separate kindergarten classrooms. Deneuve was contracted to increase the square footage to 2,880 by adding three half round additions constructed from straw bales. Considerable foundation work was required to permit the existing structure to accommodate and support the additions, which featured radiused walls, exposed beams, and a stucco exterior. Deneuve gave special attention to marrying modern construction techniques with the overall philosophy of the school and students.
